Laser-assisted cataract surgery
A laser can perform some steps of cataract surgery, and your surgeon will tell you whether it applies to you.
What the laser does
It can make certain openings with added precision compared with doing them by hand.
It can soften the cataract before it is removed, which can reduce the ultrasound energy needed.
It can treat small amounts of astigmatism by making precise relaxing incisions.
What it does not change
The laser is one part of the procedure. It does not replace the lens choice, and it does not determine what you will see afterwards. The lens does that.
